In The Red is proud to be the exclusive distributor of the debut single from NY's Lasters. This four song seven inch was pressed in an edition of 200 and pressed up on the band's own Futilitarian Records. Home recorded straight-ahead misanthropic punk rock that is somewhere between Jay Reatard's Blood Visions and any one of a dozen Killed By Death bands. Something about this makes it stand apart to our ears. And they even hand lettered all the labels. Our friend Geoffrey Weiss, who knows a thing or three about punk rock, had this to say about The Lasters; "At their best, they're barely tolerable. The Lasters are so pissed off, they make Rush Limbaugh look like Deepak Chopra. Angry, yes. Young, mentally. Men, in a manner of speaking. Nihilism, with a side of solipsism. Punk means never having to say you're welcome. It's over, but it's a #d edition of 200, with handwritten labels and 4 short songs." |
