In the 80's the New York lower east side noise scene was set on it's ear by DC-transplants Pussy Galore. Their bass less, treble kicking roar fused rockabilly and garage rock styles with atonal white noise and fractured song structure. Their sound was hard, brutal and intrusive. They were what real rock n' roll was all about - sex, volume and attitude. They made music that even by todays standards would bum a youngster's parents out - always a good thing. In 1989 Pussy Galore toured the US for the last time. Their last ever show was played at CBGB's and it was recorded to 16 track. "Live: In The Red" is the result of that recording. This document captures the band at their savage best. Nowadays, Jon Spencer fronts the Blues Explosion and plays in Boss Hog, Neil Haggerty is in Royal Trux and Bob Bert beats the traps in the Knoxville Girls. Pussy Galore's long out of print studio albums have also been reissued on the Matador label.
