London-based Black Time is Lemmy Caution (vocals, guitar), Janie Too Bad (bass, vocals) and Mr. Stix (drums). Word of Black Time spread fast throughout the underground in the winter of 2004. Lemmy Caution self-released Black Time's first record, Black Out, before the band played a single show. Enigmatic with all the right influences—Claude Bessy, Crime, Electric Eels and Godard—the record quickly sold out, prompting In The Red to repress the album. Black Time went to work on their first In The Red album, Midnight World, in 2006. Trashy and lo-fi, Midnight World proved that Black Out was no fluke. In 2008 Black Time made the trek to the United States to play Gonerfest 5, on the heels of yet another standout album, Double Negative (a record culling influences from Neu! 2 on at least one track, "Backward In Black").
Over the last few years, Black Time has slowed down a bit, occasionally coming out of hiding to play a London show. High energy and brutal as hell, they're not to be missed.
